Interesting discussion... But tires are really a perishable item anyhow. Rubber naturally decays and after about 10-15 years you are better off throwing those old tires away than using them for anything. If any part of the automobile has advanced over the years its the tires. The most important part of the car...

There's a good reason for the saying "where the rubber hits the road"

   Some days you just have to choose .........originality for concours,
   or modifications for your driving pleasure and instant
   gratification.....thats why they make vanilla and chocolate ice cream.
   You have the luxury of choosing...my rec. is to never throw away the
   original pieces, your interests may change if you live long enough, or
   the next owner might view things differently than do you.

   In my estimation, original is nice, but then performance and handling
   is an evolutionary thing.
