The problem comes if surgery is needed - a knee replacement is around $80K and an appendectomy is $30k iirc - even those can be paid without insurance over time - but nit's not realistic. This is where catastrophic insurance should come in. Those who say catastrophic insurance may know something I don't but I looked at $5000 and $10000 deductibles. Wouldn't that be considered catastrophic coverage? I'm no expert - just asking the question. I didn't buy it, but I bought a traditional policy when I worked as a outside contractor.
