All,I am not sure if all of you heard, Brian Keegan one of the best Ferrari parts guys in the business has relocated to Ferrparts in Sacramento, CA. They have a large inventory and rumor has it they got some large shipping containers from the old Ferrari UK, with many rare parts.
Brian has been a good friend for many years a lister and his vast knowledge of Ferrari parts is amazing! In fact I have followed him around the country over the years as his advice and customer service is second to none. Please check out their website and lets all support Brian and this new parts source!

I would agree - however, 308s being 'cheap' cars, I could very-well end up buying a car with a similar set of issues due to neglect, 'sitting', or abuse. Fixing these cars has always been expensive, and owners seem to go to great lengths to avoid having to pay the money necessary to get these cars properly serviced. Lets face it - the reason I have a bad engine is because the PREVIOUS owner didn't want to fix it...but he knew it had issues when he sold it to me. This overheating issue pre-dates my ownership, and if the PO had the stones to pull the motor and fix the problem, I wouldn't be dealing with this now. It was passed-on to me, never correctly diagnosed by anyone, or excused as 'all 308s run alittle hot'.The cost associated with re-building an engine to factory-correct specs isn't the labor - roughly 100 hours. The cost is because of the parts. Parts prices are high right now, and there's no getting- away from it. Some of the items can be substituted by 'aftermarket' vendors such as the piston rings and pistons - I have a LOT of choices there, and are cheap considering. Things like bearings, cylinder liners and gaskets, however, I don't have choices. The gaskets are an 'understood' thing - they don't last forever, they eventually leak, they need to be replaced. The engine is completely broken-down, so its a great time to do it all and do it correctly...the future will be interesting.M --- On Fri, 11/27/09, Ken Rentiers <rentiers [at] me.com> wrote: From: Ken Rentiers <rentiers [at] me.com> Subject: Re: [Ferrari] Engine Rebuild III To: "Michael" <Cavallino_Rapante [at] yahoo.com> Cc: "The FerrariList" <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> Date: Friday, November 27, 2009, 12:20 AM Cheaper to buy another 308 than buy all those parts. Michael James wrote:My mechanic, David Feinberg, believes my choice in oil coupled with the heat did some serious damage - the piston rings scoured the cylinder liners, and vice-versa when the oil 'broke-down" from high-heat, and the bearings in the motor are all SHOT. The Cams andCrankshaft were spared, but the bearing sets have risen in price overthe years....and so have cylinder liners. I also burned-through a piston. I also have all of the engine gaskets to replace (a whole- set of engine gaskets are $1,800, which include the head gaskets). All 16 exhaust valves are destroyed, along with 9 intake valves.....the previous valve job managed to 'nick' all of the valves and corrupt their sealing properties, so my compression/leakdown numbers were horrible across the board. I suppose I should be lucky that the Blockand Heads were spared, but the internal 'bits' that have been roastedover the years....crap! Anywho, we'll have to sit-down and review what the way-ahead looks like.
