I'm sure they would have given me the old sensor if I had asked for it -- but frankly I don't know what the point would have been; it's not as if the defect would have been apparent, and I while I obviously am not pleased with the price, I don't have any reason to doubt their honesty or competence (which is another subject altogether; I know there are lots of totally competent independents, but someone else mentioned to me that this dealer has 4 Ferrari master mechanics -- of the total of 30 in the entire U.S.). And if I were sure in advance that the problem was an O2 sensor, perhaps I would have tracked down the part, for a more modest price, and had some competent independent install it. But (despite Clyde's educated guess), I didn't in fact know that to be the case. Tom and Mike have given examples of dirt cheap (relative to what I was charged) prices for O2 sensors for other cars. But I haven't heard anyone say that the actual sensor for my car is even close to those prices. Anyone know what a more competitive price for the correct sensor is? I've heard that sensors for some modern cars, e.g., Audis, do run at least $2xx. > Date: Thu, 3 Dec 2009 14:06:21 -0500 > From: kjtar [at] cox.net > To: larrybard [at] hotmail.com > Subject: Re: [Ferrari] Check Engine Light (Cyl. 7-12) - 512TR -- Prize goes > to Clyde > CC: ferrarilist [at] ferrarilist.com > > Did they offer to give you the old 02 sensor?
