I remember Ric Rainbolt successfully installed a turbocharger on his 308, he would be a great contact if you decide to go the super/turbo route Mark Lueker 308 SYSTEMS Inc. 970-282-7006 www.308systems.com -----Original Message----- From: Michael James [mailto:cavallino_rapante [at] yahoo.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 12, 2010 3:26 PM To: Mark Cc: ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com Subject: Re: [Ferrari] 308 Mods A friend here in NH is in the same boat - his motor has been dis-assembled, and is thinking the same thoughts. After some conversations with REAL knowledgable people, a hotter Cam coupled with high-compression pistons using better-sealing rings and modern metallurgy would be the biggest bang for the buck. Another route is to go with a Motronic/Haltech custom-injection system - these systems have been documented on FChat quite a bit, but the people who go this route have a multi-month science project ahead with expen$ive dyno-time coupled with constantly mapping and re-mapping the computer coupled with sensor mount fabrication/calibration and all sorts of headache.....there's horsepower there to be gained, but there is no documented 'starting point' to simplify the tuning process or give you a solid point of reference to get the motor running..... Verell Boen is 'slowly' installing a Supercharger on his pure-Euro 308 QV, which would also work on a 2V motor. There is a great deal of fabrication to stuff the plumbing under the plenum, and there is a need to re-route a few things, but much of the engineering has already been done (the system was on someone else's car before Verell bought it, that someone-else is working on stuffing a V-12 from a 400i into the back of a 308). On another note, I have seen at least one if not two successful installations of 355 engines into the back of a 308......but that's another beast entirely. I know I could: 1. Go to Fchat 2. Install Chevy V8 But what upgrades have listmembers done to achieve some modern hp increases? I'm thinking a set of hot cams, ported heads, 10.5 pistons and EFI would do it. Thoughts?
