But when you start getting to the stratosphere, the rarest of the rare, most people don't recognize things. Real Bugattis look like old cars at this point to most, Vermeer's are typically small scale paintings with soft lighting and "mundane" subjects. But then again, I expect Ferrari Bubba, even in East Jesus Arkansas to look at a Type 35C and say "cool"...
