I suspect, without all the electronic aids, when the right foot is put to the floor, a standard 599 would have a hard time remaining on the road. Power of most of today's current crop of performance cars is so beyond the ability of most owners to exploit waht's there, not to mention no where to us it on public roads. I suspect it will be for bragging rights, so those who buy it can say they have a KERS system, to go along with their flappy paddle transmission. The difference in performance in the real world just doesn't make a difference. Only on paper. Any car with 500 HP, and torque to match is going to have so much in excess, a messed up shift will be compensated for with brute power alone. Now, the track is a different story, BUT, the 599 and cars like it are not race cars, and most who buy them are not race drivers, so any advantage in reduced lap times due to an F1 trans, or KERS, is just providing the average owner with a false sense of driver skill, and doing them a disservice. (much like really sticky tires at DE events; you're not driving faster, the tires are just making you look quicker). Best way to go faster, is with lots of DE seat time, and good instruction. Paying for gear to gain fractions of a second only count on the track, once you're already able to drive your standard car at 10/10s all day without thinking about it, and there's a clock on with a checkered flag awaiting you at the end. Ok, my little rant from a P bug driver over. lol. Ed 911SC On 1 March 2010 17:36, Hans E.
