Michael, I personally like NGK, but there's nothing wrong with Bosch. There are many websites that offer cross reference lists between the various brands. See where the Bosch plugs fit in terms of heat range and as long as they match what you have used previously, you'll be good to go. If the book says the gap is up to .027 and you measure them out of the box at .028 then that's pretty darn close. You'd be hard pressed to get them as evenly matched as they are now, and all for the sake of one thou - it ain't worth it IMHO. Remember also that plug technology has advanced a wee bit since 1981, so pretty much anything will be better than the original spec Champions. As a reference point, I run the absolute cheapest NGKs in the Mondial t and it runs just as good as it did when it had the $15 a piece iridium ones. I only changed them after removing each plug one by one to check color and I dropped one. $10 for a complete set seemed better than waiting for the iridiums. Never bothered changing them back... The plug gap was put between .024" to .027" as the manual says. Today, the auto part store gave me BOSCH SUPER PLUS 7992 WR 5 DC+. They couldn't find what I wanted. Good choice or not ? Next question: The gap is officially (on the box) set at .032", but it's more like .028". What should I do ? Thank you!
