Hi!
While I recognize the need to protect identity and valid work products by the originator,
I have issues when HD MC tries to patent the sound of their engine for example. I once did some economic development for an Indian tribe. They could not use their English name on products because someone had trademarked it on a patent medicine! You see this same
ploy in China where people trademark every foreign name for businessees or products and then sell the rights when the original companies want to enter the market.
On the other hand, I had a conversation recently with some Asians selling knockoff NBA sportswear. They could not understand how they were taking advantage of the licensees by bypassing them and also hurting their image by dumping substandard iems into the public market. Greed was their only motivation too.
It's not a perfect world.
