If I recall, BMW kept it out of the US due to warranty issues (Euro's apparently get shit for warranty on cars)... Just like the launch control is voiding warranties on other cars... I think BMW left that out of the US E46 programming initially at least.

Wow, very fascinating....

Just when I thought I knew all the little trivia, boom!

The funny thing was that it took some time for the SMG to become available on the E46 M3 IIRC, and I can't recall one magazine article that mentioned the basis of the SMG being the european e36.....essentially they acted as if the E46 was where it started.

This trivia btw defeats the little known trivia of the power steering delete option on the F355.....:)
