I have a 1981 308 GTSi:
Getting ready to get it out after a long winter.
Been fixing things here and there for the past 2 weeks.
Today I noticed the bellow end to the oil radiator
was off the rear duct. That means cold fresh air was going downward before
arriving to the rear duct. Unfortunately, I don't know how long I was driving
that way last year. Very strange.
To fix it, put the bellow end perfectly around the
edge of the rear duct, I have to remove the water reservoir. Looks easy, take 3
bolts off. Right ? Or am I missing something ?
There is also the matter of the bimetal thermostat
on the side. This thing seems to have been there since 1981. Should I worry
?
I was thinking about painting the reservoir since
it will be off. Should I send it to a professional or is using high heat paint
enough ? I sure would like it to look great. I already have the brand new
sticker that goes on it.
Thanks in advance for your
suggestions!
