Didn't the drivers at first complain about the 917 having syncros, saying it slowed down their shifts, and cost them several seconds per lap at LeMans?

No syncros?  There is a modern racing transmission that is syncro absent.  Worth 3 seconds in a Lotus Super Seven.  But that said, I gotta concede, counselor, that this trans aint like the trans on that 1924 Amilcar.  heh heh
