The 1970 and 71 Porsche had a trick clutch cable that feeds though a plastic thingy with ears on the clutch folk.  Trouble is - plastic ears break off leaving those witless souls who are unable to shift w/o a clutch stranded.  Red lights were a bitch tho.  Either time perfect or learn to start car in first gear.

Oh - the fix?  A carved aluminum thingy that mimics the plastic thingy.

Many thousands of new and old diesel trucks without syncro transmissions and drivers often do NOT use clutch
to shift, just slide from gear to gear. You get accustomed to the engine sound to match gears.
No syncros?  There is a modern racing transmission that is syncro absent.  Worth 3 seconds in a Lotus Super Seven.  But that said, I gotta concede, counselor, that this trans aint like the trans on that 1924 Amilcar.  heh heh
