Hi Dale -
Ha! Gurney was around 6'5" - not fat but a numberof the cars he drove have a small bump on the roof - now called a "Gurney Bump" or Bubble. The 1st I recall is on the GT40 Mk 4 he co-drove with AJ Foyt at LeMans. There was also one on a 512S Ferrari but I'm not sure it was for Gurney or another tall driver. Of course, Gurney was responsible for several other improvements in racing - the Gurney Flap and spraying Champagne after a race were both his..... I'm sure there are others -

Your comments remind me of the saying "...when the drivers were fat and the tires were skinny."

Subject: [Ferrari] F1 DRIVER SIZES

HI DOUG AND LARRY,
HOW ABOUT REQUIRING ALL F1 CARS TO ACCOMODATE A DRIVER THE SIZE OF FROILAND GONZALEZ OR JUAN MANUEL FANGIO? DAN GURNEY I BELIEVE WAS AT LEAST TALL TOO? OR TINY LUND OR JUNIOR JOHNSON TO OPEN F1 FOR MORE NASCAR CROSSOVER?
THEN WE WOULD SEE SOME DRIVING!
                                  JUST A THOUGHT
                                  BEST REGARDS
                                  DALE
