We recently saw several of these at a display in Montreal,
Canada when there for the race a couple of weeks ago. I had never seen one
before that. Looks like a lot of fun - has quite the "concept car"
look for its age. -- charles From: Britt2Asa [at] aol.com
[mailto:Britt2Asa [at] aol.com] Hi Guys One of the small joys of living in the UK for the past 14 years is
the car scene. There are a lot of neat cars to play with. Having finished the X
1/9 and having sent it off to the Ascari circuit in Spain where its new Ferrari
owning owner is based I started looking for something different. For years I wouldn't touch a Fiat. I made fun of them. Thought
they were junk. However slowly I started to learn a bit and realised that for a
small car, Fiat really knows it's stuff. Anyway my new project is a Fiat
Barchetta. Handbuilt by Fiat and never officially sold over here in the UK
(they are all LHD), they are a pure Itailan design with a DOHC Otto cycle 1.8l
engine. We are having a hot summer so it never hurts to have a little red
convertible. Very expensive when new they are now cheap as chips. Look what I
bought for 3 grand. Funny enough the workshop manual for this car actually says it was
designed in the spirit of the Ferrari barchetta. Its a fun little car, shame you guys stateside can't have access
to them. Regards BR in the UK 1997 Fiat Barchetta
