When we lived in L.A. in the late 60's we were broken into twice in the same appartment house.
The first time we were not home and came in in the middle of the crime. They got away with cameras, tv, I found my guitar outside
the rear widow they got in.
The next time we were home and asleep, when we woke up jewely, camera (I had replaced from he first time and money from my billfold. It could have been worse, we were still alive.

In KS b4 we retired to the country I had a 5 foot  fence, rottwiller and a alarm system that called my work and a siren.
We lived on a cornor lot and every other house on those cross street we broken in to.

In the country even the sheriff can't find us with 911 addressing.

No GPS , mapquest, google earth can't find us.

If UPS or Fedex has a new driver they have to call for directions. One day my wife out in the yard and the UPS truck was leaving,
she asked how many packages I got today. He said None! The truck just drove up to your house, cause whenever we get off the highway here it is where we go.

Gentlemen I just experienced a break in at my house

Here is what I got from this

I have an alarm but the response time is too slow for the guys to get caught in a big city

Flat screen TV?s that are not secured will go

So will lap tops and jewelry that is left out and jewelry boxes

Here is what I would do and am doing in the future

Get a metal frame door for your all of your doors that have access to the street to include your bedroom and home office door that can be dead bolt locked

The door that they got thru was a wood door frame and it was kicked in

If you have an attached garage with motor cycles etc in it

Remover keys and lock the bike separately with the steering locks

That door should have a metal frame as well with a dead bolt lock and if you have window in the garage drill stop them as well with bolts

I was lucky that they were there maybe 5 minutes at the most and took very little in fact they missed a lot but the silent alarm was activated

They took a laptop that was password protected and has a tracking monitor on it, and if they get thru the password and log on they are toast!

They took my PS3 which really pissed me off but it was one of the original ones

And they took my big box computer which I play my flying games on it!

All in all it was a non event
