The thing about Webers is they are so extremely
adjustable - the jets and emulsion tubes and AC jets can be installed to provide
the performance desired - even at different rpm's. Plus a lot of
other flexibility. Don't forget to clean the transition ports (if yours
have them) thru the trans. port inspection plugs.
Unfortunately, Weber stopped making &
selling carbs. and carb. parts around 15 years ago to concentrate on their FI
business.
But there are places to get them. PMO
& I went together and bought a bunch of
E-tubes & Jets for the 40 IDA's -
(the 3 throat carbs often used on 911s) using a machine shop he's used
before. The jets are gorgeous! They even have the size etched on
each one.
If you have any problem finding parts, Pierce
Manifold seems to stock most parts for all types of Webers - but he's kind of
pricey on some. I believe I have some DCOE jets if you need
them....
Good luck -

working on these carbs have een the most rewarding thing I have
ever done. I 4-5 weber books and never understood a word after taking 4 or 5
apart I am finding out that i am getting a keen understanding of these
magnificent pieces of Italian artistry. They are not as complicated as I thought
and I feel that the car will run better now that I really know what they
do............
I know I sound like a broken record buy anyone here with computer probelms
should seriously consider a mac. I am no expert but use a pc and sun at work and
when I get home everynight i hug my 27" quad coe imac, no viruses, no spyware,
no probelms, no crashes, automatic backups mean no lost data. I could go
on.....

Ah I wish there was a like button for some
of these :) But I think the hard part here is putting it back together

:) I did replace my rear brake pads in 15 minutes last night though
:) I love a car you can jack up on one corner and get 3 wheels in the air
(with the targa roof removed)! Have fun though, I wish I had time to

Agree - the article makes a weak attempt to tie youth
driver-ed/apathy to the decline of the clutch pedal. That link
isn't there, sorry. There are LOTS of other factors going-on to
discuss why only 30% of 16 year olds have a DL. Anyone price auto
insurance lately for a 16 year old? Or the average car price has
climbed to well-north of $23K? Or highway fatality statistics
regarding deaths in that age group? Or the economy/jobs
situation?
The basic premise I agree with, however. The manual is in
decline - we'll all be driving paddle-shifters in the future, but they
DO help you get around the racetrack faster. Drivers/Customers
will have to decide which is more important - a clutch pedal, or shifts
that happen in microseconds.

OK I am all for this clearly, but when I
read the article suggesting 30% of 16 year olds are getting their
licenses and the rest think driving is lame... Not sure
what to make of that? On the one hand I am happy there will be
fewer drivers out there crowding the roads, on the other hand these
kids will eventually be living in Mom and Dad's basement since they
lack the mobility, on the other hand they will eventually learn to
drive much later in life, so even less experienced drivers, on the
other hand if they did that, then they likely would not go through
"driver's ed" and would have gotten a real instructor and lessons,
making them overall better drivers... But really how dare
Ferrari... When I think about it really. This is a company
that used to make sports cars, now they make very fast cars for old
men who can't shift or parallel park. They have become the gold
chain standard with this move to elecro-fit every vehicle such that
all you need to do to go fast is mash the pedal and steer... I
read something like 6% of lamborghini's being sold last year had a
manual also... If I wanted that I'd use my PS3 controller and
lean in my chair a lot. What a sad testament to driving
overall. Sad sad sad. I was at Lake Forest Sports cars
this week for a car club meeting. They had a lot of very pretty
cars, including an SLR and an MC12. The only new cars there that
you could row your own in were the Lotus's... AM's? nope,
Maserati's? nope, Ferrari's? nope, not a one had 3 pedals
on the floor. Not one. If you wanted that, you would have
to purchase a used vehicle. And they had 4 new Scuderia's on the
floor, gray, white, black and red... The nicest F car they
had was an older 512 TR, that thing was beautiful, and they had a 246
Dino also that was very nice. BR, Mike George
