Howdy, all. It's
been a hot summer here in New England, and no more so than a pair of 90+ degree
days at Lime Rock. Despite the weather, everyone had a great time, with
over 20 Challenge race cars playing with Ferrari street cars and everything
else, including Vipers, BMWs, Porsches and other fun toys. This is what's most impressive to me - despite tropical
conditions, everyone treated each other with respect and professionalism, and we
all enjoyed the massive amounts of track time we had. Check out a video
here:
Next, I ***BURST MY SPLEEN*** laughing at
this other video. If you've ever been to a track event,
you'll know EXACTLY what they're talking about in here. And you may
even recognize someone --or yourself!-- reproduced in
it!
Up next: WGI over Labor Day
weekend. Ferrari North America is joining us for that event with the
Ferrari Challenge series, and it'll be a SPECTATOR EVENT at WGI -- with
thousands of paying spectators in the stands watching YOU! This event will be much
same as our other very popular club Drivers Education events, with four
run groups of varying experience levels. It's a four day event,
with Thursday being reserved just
for our drivers and
instructors. The Ferrari
430 Challenge series will
be sharing the track with us on the remainder of the three days, so we'll be running intermingled with the Ferrari
Challenge sessions. The Challenge racers
will be taking only 1.5 hours out of each of those three day, so track time for you will be almost as much, and as the event progresses, we hope to be combining
run groups to afford you even more track time -- we were able to do that
at our May WGI event, and folks got over 3+ hours/day
on the track. Register online at http://fcatrackdays.motorsportreg.com/, and the paper form will be coming from Leon Bourdage
and Bruce
Ledoux, event organizers,
tomorrow.
Preview video here, with Bruce and
Leon:
Ok, track stuff aside, there's PLENTY of stuff on the
calendar! John Nichols' always excellent VT weekend is coming up in a
week. Laurie Sanborn is organizing Ferrari participation at a cool charity
car show in New Hampshire. Ellen Greendale is hosting a ***VERY RARE, VERY
EXCLUSE*** tour of a private car collection in Western Massachusetts. And
Tutto Italiano is this Sunday, right in
Brookline!

4. Fowler Automobile and Toy Museum
On
August 14, you will have a rare opportunity to see Dale Fowler’s amazing vintage
automobile and toy museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The Fowler museum is very private and is
almost never open to outsiders.
According to Rich Taylor (Vintage Rallies): “Dale Fowler’s collection
is famous. We’ve tried a couple of
times over the years to get him to let us bring a rally to see it, but he never
says yes. If you can get car people
in to see his collection, I’d say that would be a really great thing.”
The
Fowlers are graciously hosting a benefit for the Berkshire Botanical Garden,
including wine, hors d’oeuvres, and tours of their museum. If you are not familiar with this
collection, check out:
