Good things about the 348:

1) It "carried the flag" in the face of Honda's NSX... :)

In objective terms, the NSX was the higher performance car, but I do recall
that a number of mags said that the emotion of the 348 trumped all that.

2) Supposedly had a cool nickname (Piccolo Testarossa) among some of the
internal factory folks.

3) Had (arguably) tauter styling than the Testarossa; side grates were less
"grating", and had a very athletic stance (first of the modern cars that
gave the impression of lunging forward).

4) Had a really great AutoWeek cover (when it debuted at Frankfurt).

5) For better or worse, pioneered the layout architecture that was to
characterize the next decade+ of the V8 cars.


Worst thing about the 348:

Fake front grill (DOH!)...
