Ed, where in Canada are you from? TDot and MTL are two of my favorite cities...in the world. Your country is beautiful.
Yep, Horton lost it on the QEW near Hamilton...wasted and coked out right? Even Dallara can't design a chassis that will stay on the road for those conditions.
I'm sure you mean the "Bricklin" and not Brickland.
If you're relying on that memory, you may need to do some more up to date research on the Pantera.
Hahaha...just kidding...sorta.

Being a Canadian, Pantera is one of the very first automotive names we learn up here, next to Brickland. Why? Well, our official national drink, and what the country runs on, is Tim Horton's coffee. The coffee chain founded by the hockey player of the same name, who lost his life in car crash, driving a Pantera. The name Pantera is almost as well known as the coffee itself, to anyone who has been drinking it for 25 years or more.
The first Ferrari that got my attention with regards to fit and finish, was the 550. I was amazed at how well all the panels fit together, and all the trim lined up as it should. Hard to believe the advances that car made over the model it replaced.
To be honest, the Pantera never looked exotic to me. Even when I was a kid, it just didn't have that allure for me. I liked the Mangusta. It just had more of that exotic look to my eye.

Ed, everything was crude back then...even period Ferrari and Lambo had hilarious assembly practices.
As in the 348, a LOT has changed since then. All of the introductory problems are easily sorted and the Dallara chassis is awesome.
They are amazing cars and still one of the best looking designs ever.

Also, some of the most raced, tracked and enjoyed marques out there. There's a huge contingent that frequents the Silver State Classic every year.

I haven't seen one in years now, but the impression I came away with was, crude, crude, crude. Then again, no worse than a lot of stuff at that time. Exotic, well the ZF trans was nice. Handbuilt, yeah, no one would ever question that. ;-)
Last time I saw a Pantera, was on the highway. It was a later model, when I believe they were adding wings and fender extensions, a la countach. (GTS ?) The driver was right into it, sporting driving gloves with cutout knuckles and all. He seemed like a pretty happy camper, and that's what it's all about I guess.

You must be mistaking this for another car Ed.
Handbuilt Italian exotic from Ghia with a Giampaolo Dallara designed chassis a "table" wine?
IS THIS NOT THE FERRARI LIST?
When did we starting worrying about interior materials or not knowing what a de Tomaso is?

It was pretty much a Pantera to the world. Some liked the way de Tomaso rolled off the tongue, and thought it added a bit of class to the car. Kinda like calling a bottle of table wine by the grape it's made from. Sounds a bit classy, but it's still a bottle of table wine. hee hee.

Thanks for that - I should have taken the time to find out the true name but
I went with memory and naturally I as wrong ;-)
Yeah, that's one of the best book buys I've made in the past 10 years or
o - every time I look through it I find new little treasures of art....
Take care -
