Subject: Re: [Ferrari] Schuey
It's true that he probably can't win a championship without a
car designed specifically for him like anyone else but for him to be so far
off the pace relative to his teammate or other driver's in first time rides so
late in the season, I still think he's having a hard time "adapting" and so is
Brawn. Button seems to be doing fine in a car designed for Hamilton and Kovi -
different driving styles yet he's able to adapt.
Brawn is the man
Schuey won a lot with. You would think Brawn would know how best to update the
current chassis to suit someone he worked so long with. And they have MB
money! However, I do believe next year's car for Schuey is the proof in the
pudding on his performance level. Notice, I didn't say whether he should
return or not. Sometimes it's just fun not to putz around the house even if
you are losing. I don't think he should have to answer to us if it was right
to return or not. Ask the guy in last place in Formula 1. He wouldn't want to
be anywhere else. Look at how Rubens smiles.

I think Button said it best 'Schuey is driving a
car designed for ME!
Almost all of Schuey's team mates could not drive
the setup on Schuey's car.
Apparently it is not a simple changing the camber
and/or toe in.
I think this would be a good question for Steve
Matchett, he should have some idea of Shuey's setup while he was at
Benetton.
It has been about 14 years, so I would
not think he would be giving away secrets.
I tended to think he liked a live/ oversteer
car.

Button jumps into a car designed for
someone else - He wins.
Kubica jumps into a car designed for someone
else - He (almost) wins.
Alonso jumps into a car designed for someone
else - He wins.
Weber jumps into a car designed for someone
else - He wins.
Schuey jumps into a car designed for someone
else and he can't adapt.
Honda, Ferrari, Braun, MB. All under the
design of the same person - Ross Braun. The people who design the
Civic do not design F1 cars. You really can't compare the brands to
their worldwide counterparts. When a team changes ownership/management
in F1, all you essentially did was change the hood ornament. I don't think
Braun is as "brilliant" an engineer as everyone makes him out to be.
It may take him awhile but he is capable of designing a championship
car. We just really have to give credit to the current engineers at
Ferrari, Renault, McLaren, Red Bull etc for making good changes faster and
that there are some really good drivers in F1 TODAY.
Just some random thoughts.
