Used Pontiac G8s are an option....

Big 400 hp V8, 6 speed, holden chassis, and a healthy suspension aftermarket if you need it.

You may find it's driving characteristics quite comparable to the BMW and the Audi....but if you have to have that euro cachet you obviously won't have that as much.

Here is what I am thinking about:

1.  BMW M5 (E39) (2000 to 2003)
2.  Audi S4 (2004-2007)

Anyone have experience(s) with either of these two cars?  Maintenance
needs for higher mileage examples?  Any scary "Stay the hell away" stories?

Other picks I am missing?
