Hi
A few years ago I drove a 383 CI Lingenfelter Camaro about 125,000 miles
in South West Texas in hot conditions. Curiously LPE wouldn't talk much about oils execept "thick". I used RED LINE Synthetic, MOBIL ONE, and researched ROYAL PURPLE and AMS OIL. The consenses was 7,500 miles between oil and oversize filter change was maximum. Except for RED LINE most others were gone at 3000 to 5000 miles. If you call or write RED LINE thhey will sends you tons of technical literature.
In all that time I never had a lubrication failure despite hours of operation at full load. On LT-1 motors you had to watch for catastrophic water pump and thermostat failures and deal with the miserable GM Optispark ignition too.
As a side note, RED LINE gave about 10 BHP more at the rear wheels than Royal Purple in same weight, etc.
    Ciao
