Yeah, I think the 911 AWD caught the 959 in the mid-late 90s and matched it speed with out the nearly "one-off" price tags of the parts the 959 requires. I have a parts catalog for the 959 but I don't believe the price list is there - IIRC even stuff like wheels were outrageous - like $10k each. Ouch!

If money allows, Iâll probably buy either a 911 C4 or a Turbo AWD one of these days. If things *really* go well, I might be able to buy a 360 â I always liked the looks and even those huge nostrils grew on me. ;-) I must admit the 458 has great looks also.

With the 911 and 360 my garage will be pretty complete....(with my 66 MGB) Now, if the stars will all align, and if God continues to smile on me.....

A friend of mine had the chance to spend some time with a 959 over in Germany on the Autobahn. He said it was the most stable car he had ever driven. He was amazed to look at the speedo, and see that he was doing 175 mph, in the rain. As usable as a 911 Carrera, and "almost" as fast as an F40. What a package! :-)

The praise for the 959 is worthy I guess, but what worries me is that a modern 911 turbo is probably just as raw...and faster.

All that's left is the exotic looks of the 959...

I dunno, it's a cool car but a tough sell for the money.

Now the 288 on the other hand......that car will be a legend forever.
