Ah Fellippe,

Your lack of track experience shows in your comments below...

Just because BMW and MB do it, does NOT make it right or the best technology. They run a business...they couldn't care if something was the best way to do things or not. A lot of what they do could be considered cutting edge but not all. Turbos are a lazy solution to not designing an engine properly. It just adds weight, heat and complexity.

By the same token, I wouldn't dismiss forced induction as inferior to naturally aspirated and horrible. They do a good job of boosting HP and torque not just HP....how do you propose to compete with a 1000 hp/1000 lb-ft TT Gallardo or Viper...a 9-10 liter V8? :)

Easy, just extend the run session to 1 hour and watch the tuner cars' engine compartments go boom.  I have yet to see a highly tuned Subaru, NSX with forced induction or any other kind of kit like this (even Dinan M3's and M5's) survive the weekend without needing to see a mechanic and a bank loan.

My only real beef with forced induction is how it affects the sound...definitely not as pure.

Yep turbo's completely mute the exhaust sound, however you can get some cool pop pop sounds out of them with the fire balls also :)

And ultimately the one cool unique thing about forced induction (especially turbos) is how the torque curve is delivered in a dramatic way. When the boost kicks in on a 911 TT, it's a cool feeling.

The latest TT are about completely linear, its like an electric motor kicking you in the ass.  Early Turbo cars had a definite oh shit point on the tach and those are a handful on a race track.

Lose the anti-FI kick or I'll have you blacklisted from ever owning a 288 GTO or F40. :)

FG

I'm pretty sure I don't want a 288, but I still drool a bit when I see an F40.  Though that might just be hunger also?
