One cylinder engines?  Good one.

I read some where that Ferrari did try that but the motor while running was 

hop hop hopping all over the shop.  They gave up on the idea.

This also proves the fallacy of less cylinders = less emissions. â these
single cylinder engines are notoriously high emission.   It takes a whole
package.....

I agree with the comment that this is a move to mollify the extreme green
crowd.  They should learn there is no mollifying these people   - if you

never understood what was meant by the "give them a inch and they'll take 

a

mile" clichÃ, this should explain it.   Make the rules 4 cylinder today 

and

in a few years they'll be demanding hybrid, electric, solar, diesel, or 

some

other option. (should not have said diesel - it makes too much sense with
their ~30% improved mpg using todays proven technology).

Even then, the extreme greenies will not be satisfied until racing is
banned.  IMO that's their ultimate goal.

I think it's a good move, Mike.  Like it or not, the days of mega petro
engines are coming to an end, and the F1 folks apparently feel that they
should be the racing formula that is on the cutting edge of new engine
technology.  I would think the engines would be lighter weight, giving the
designers more room to play around with weight/balance/aero packages.  All
