Yup, in Canada too. About $30,000 if I remember?

I read they softened up the 575 so much, that they had to offer the handling package, as there were many discontented customers.
Was the Euro 575 suspension a lot different to the one offered in the US market?

The 456 is a good car but it doesn't handle like a 550 and actually a 550 handles better than a 575
They soften up the 575 ride for the US market

Ditto Ed – While I love the looks, engine, etc. of the 512, I’ve also been a
fan of the 550 since it was released. I also like the 456 but that’s not
being discussed here for some reason -
I’m sure going forward at great speed in a TR is unequaled – but I wouldn’t
want to have to back up in one! ;-)
It's a tough choice - if I was ready to write a check I'm not sure I'd know
which to buy. I'd bet a test drive would make the choice for me though -

No hands on personal experience, but to me, the 550 just seems so much more
usable. Some don't care for the looks of the 550, but I think it was the
best looking Ferrari to come along in years, and much better looking than
what replaced it. The 550 is just a big proper GT car to me. Only thing
I've heard to watch for, is the cooling hose that runs between the two
cylinder banks, under the plenum ?? I'm sure the better informed can point
out other weaknesses and things to watch for.
In a recent survey, the TR still rates as one of the top most desirable
sports cars on peoples wish list.

Guys,
All the discussion about the 512TR begs the question. How does the 550
compare?
Asking prices seem to be very close for both cars.
I'm aware they're very different cars ( styling, engine placement etc.)
however for about the same money you can have your choice!
I like the interior of the 550 despite the 512TR's interior being a giant
leap over the earlier series TR's, but I have a little trouble with the
550's styling.
I'm with FG on the 512TR possibly being my favorite Ferrari however I'd like
to hear the arguement for the 550... if there is one. :)
Thanks Ken
