I used to drive my 59 Bugeye with my wife in her seat and our daughter in the lap and our son in the middle, and we lived in LA.

My son used to steer sitting on my lap.

 

Of course that is not allowed today. I am teaching my grandson to drive a stick, he won't even have to lock his car, no one his age can drive a stick.

Careful of the "baby" car seats - some, while pretty, have a bad habit for non-protection.  "Kid" booster seats are a bit different as most use on board factory seat belts.

 

I like what my F50 owners manual says - it devotes several pages to the placement and use of baby seats.

 

So how much to spend?  As Alan Russell once replied to a question about how much to spend on a good a bike helmet - Alan asked rhetorically - how much is your head worth?
