ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher in your car, strapped under the driver's
seat!
I have it even in my Opel Corsa since a friend and father of 2 kids burned
to death on the Nordschleife after crashing during a regular race. 
He just could not get out of his burning car, and the extinguisher was in
the back. Very sad but seemingly avoidable with a small red bottle...
