It's possible, but I would think 308 doors are pretty light relative to their hinge strength. I had closing issues like that (door sag) with a Corvette and with an F150 pickup. Of course, if your 308 is a GTS, it's possible the entire frame might sag/flex a bit when the roof is out. I know if I park my C4 Corvette on an uneven surface with the roof panel out, I can't put the roof panel pack on.

Charles, do you think that the doors weight caused the shutting ploblem, if thats the case wood shims (like they use to level billiard tables they are about 10 inches wide and usually ceder) could maybe used from the outside (just looked at my 308 and lip preventing insertion from the inside). I would not think pushing down only straight in or up and in.

If the door was hard to close, something is probably badly misaligned. If it took significant pressure to close it, that same pressure in the misalignment may be preventing the latching mechanism from releasing.

 

Try putting significant pressure on the outside of the door close to the height of the latching mechanism while someone else pulls the release latch and then the door. You can also try putting pressure upward or downward on the door doing the same thing. Basically you're just trying to relieve the pressure on the latch that is keeping the normal release from slipping off as it should. Be cautious to apply the pressure over a wide area and with something soft as your sheetmetal is not very thick and you don't want to leave impressions in it.

 

I had some similar closing issues with my 355 hood. After a while I started to notice little wear marks on the catch that indicated where the misalignment was rubbing, so it just took a couple of minutes with a wrench to shift the catch slightly and now it opens and closes normally again.

Been following this, I don't think Steve said the door was locked, it won't open either from the outside or the inside.

Not sure how the linkage is in a 348.

Is it like the 308?

I have had the panels off of mine, trying to get both of doors to unlock with the key, no joy (luck), but I found the door opening linkage worked straight forward.

    On most cars you can use a flat thin piece of steel like a "slim jim" or hacksaw blade to spread the rubber scraper away from the window glass, often enough to look inside wuth a small flashlight. This is done in border contraband checks al the time. If you can get enough space to get the nozzle of the WD40, Liquid Wrench. etc into the problem area perhaps you can wash the problem away. This is assuming it is lack of lubrication or congealed lubricant?
