Jim sagely puts it "A gallon of MILK costs more now due to the fact that the DOLLAR is worth less "
For decades - I have used "how many quarts (using the price) of milk does it take to buy a Chevy?" And to that end, "how many Chevy's does it take to buy a house?"
It works out pretty well from 1961 to present. According to my old Ralph's records, milk was 0.27 cents per quart.
As far as the conversion from Lire to Euro? %$%&*% there went my little business. I would buy manuals from Ferrari for 30 cents, DHL (that's the only way they would ship them) cost another 30 cents per and I would sell them for 1.00.
Euro comes in and BANG - it's one Euro for the manual and the cost to ship is one Euro and I can sell it for maybe 1 dollar - WHICH puts me underwater with the dealership price. In the beginning the only thing I had to offer was something no one else could get - - - - and then the final nail - - - along came the DVD. heh heh Adios paper manuals.
Although I do have several of the last paper parts manuals Ferrari ever put out but these are for collectors. In 15 years (1975 to 1990) they came from stuff that looked as if it were done in the basement of a church for their annual jamboree to something that was five pounds in a great yellow vinyl binder and weighted in at 5 pounds.
