Friend of mine had a 71 XKE V12 with chrome WWs - every weekend he'd pull one and spend a few hours in his living
 room watching baseball, etc as he cleaned the WW.  ;-)

 

My 66 MGB has painted WWs which will hopefully be easier to keep clean.  I am assuming brake dust causes much of the "dirt" on wheels.  My MB has alloy wheels that stay clean for a *very* short time.   Because of this, I plan to try a set of Ceramic Pads which are supposed to eliminate the caustic brake dust.  We'll see...
