Rick – SUPURB JOB!! Now THIS
is what this List is all about Thanks DOUG From: Rick Moseley
[mailto:ramosel [at] pacbell.net] Michael First, you need to
look VERY closely at the pictures and your unit. They are NOT the same.
Figure 15.1.4 is a traditional setup as used on many VWs. The pivot point
for the air flow arm is behind the point at which the arm contacts the plunger
on the distributor. The variation on our cars has the contact point for
the plunger behind the pivot point for the arm… so the pictured version
the air flows UP. On ours, the air flows DOWN. Hope this helps. I had mine apart in
the last year and sent all the critical stuff to Larry Fletcher for rebuilds.

[mailto:mysavard [at] videotron.ca] ....shows how the sensor plate (56 mm by the
way) works. But there is something I don't understand even after reading
the explanations. Is the air coming through the air filter supposed to push
down on the plate, thus allowing more air as I go faster ? If that is so, then
I don't understand the directions of the green arrows on the picture. I need a SENSOR PLATE FOR DUMMIES type of explanation. Michael Savard (1981 308 GTSi) |
