Let set over night(engine cool)
Using a gas can fill it up, so that you can see the gas in the filler tube( if you over fill, put the cap back on and soak the gas up around the filler cap- there is a drain hose that runs down the tank from the filler opening, so make sure you soak that up also). 

Now let it sit for a couple of hours- you should do this in the morning, so the heat of the day will expand the gas.

You probably have a canister with charcoal inside to filter fumes, not sure of the emmison on
Carb 308s.

The filler hose for the tank, the hoses that vent and connect the tanks top and bottom along with the fuel pump hose to the carbs.

Check obvious that do not involve starting the engine, top of both tanks as well beneath the tanks.
