I own a Escort 9500 ix and only have good things to say about it. It has a GPS component so it remembers marked locations and false alarms. You than purchase a subscription to the online database (nominal fee). Every one else that owns one and subscribes to the database all contribute and the information is collected. When you update the database to the detector you get all of the updates from all over the US. It's great for Speedtraps that have been marked and false alarms that have been logged etc... It also keeps track of multiple alerts with seperate signal strengths for each threat. It is the most advanced unit out.
Mentioned in a previous reply they also have a Garmin looking GPS unit with all of the features as
well.
The Valentine is a good unit as well but not as advanced. It does have directional arrows so you know the direction of the threats and it keeps track of multiple threats as well. Still both are the best on the market.

For my money, I use a V1. It can be updated with new software for a minimal cost. My only problem with the laser is that it will signal with some LED brake lights and some home security products.
Sounds like your V1 is exhibiting some signal discrimination errors. It's perhaps ready to go back to Valentine for their "upgrade" (a relatively cheap service to refurbish the unit and update it, which usually results in them simply sending a completely new unit.)
