My wife and I will be in for Italy next month (mostly Rome, but perhaps elsewhere), for a few weeks (about 3 for her and 1 for me). While in Italy we may (or may not) rent a car. We both just obtained international licenses. It's been a very long time since I have contemplated the possibility of driving in Europe. We understand that we will need insurance, purchased either from the auto rental agency (probably expensive), or elsewhere; my current policy does not cover us in Europe. What have others done to secure insurance coverage for driving while on vacation in Europe -- is whatever is available from a car rental agency, though presumably relatively expensive, perhaps sensible for short vacations because it is pretty hassle free? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Larry |
