Everyone has probably seen this before:

I wonder if the guy in the first pic purged the tank with nitrogen before
welding?

Best ideas I've seen have been to just buy some 2x4s at home depot for $2 each
and build cribbing (build a box like lincoln logs) to go under the wheels
or frame. Larger versions of this with 4x4 or 6x6 is what they use to
prop up houses temporarily, and yes, this is approved by the engineers
in earthquake areas. You could leave some of the 2x4s long and connect
the different stands.

Here in earthquake country, I'd give serious thought to not using the typical
jack stands or even lifts if I was a pro mechanic (i.e., if you spend 20-30% of
your life
under a car, when the big one hits, you're going to have 20-30% chance of
dying.)

For airplanes, we've got custom welded steel stands that are about 4-6' wide
that fit
multiple hard jacking holes on the spars or have a sling to cradle the body.

Also, any guidance on jack stands? I certainly don't want to try and save a
few

bucks if the tradeoff is stability/safety.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
.............
my only advice is...
Please buy a safe one and maybe even have a back up Plan B.
I have a friend who lost their son last year to a related type of accident.
Please be careful !!!
