Robert did a fine job.  I got my good quality jack from this place --- www.hyjacks.com/race.html   the RP475 (about 2 years ago) and using Lincoln stands (brought long time ago).  RP475 is make by Argo outside Chicago, and it lift fast provided you pump hard.  I still have my Craftsman jack (brought 30 years ago) and still using it.  BTW, the jack saddle is NOT flat, need a pad to level it so it would not damage the bottom of your car.

Also, any guidance on jack stands?  I certainly don't want to try and save a few bucks if the tradeoff is stability/safety.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
.............
my only advice is...
Please buy a safe one and maybe even have a back up Plan B.
I have a friend who lost their son last year to a related type of accident. Please be careful !!!
