My GSD can open doors. I had to take my office knob apart and put it on backwards so that I could lock him IN my office when I went to lunch. If I just closed the door he would let himself out whenever the office needed defense from the dreaded UPS, FedEx, or USPS employees.

 

He can also reliably let himself out of crates and airline containers. I have a pretty funny video where he learned that if he pressed hard enough on the center of the door of the airline crate, the door would flex enough for the pins to clear the plastic and the door would go flying across the room. Pretty funny to see two rear paws braced in the rear corners of the crate, two front paws on the vertical center of the door, one good push and OUT. After I saw the video I braced up the door and so he just chewed through the crate like a Sawzall.

 

If I neglect to fill his water bowl when he's thirsty he'll just put up the toilet seats.

 

He did have the hip issue, but now he has a bionic one from the NCSU Vet School and he plays like a pup again. Awesome dog. His "sister" is just as pretty but not as dedicated to mischief.

Get a Doberman

Trained them for years

Way smarter than any long hair German breed

Only thing they cant do is open a door and answer the phone!

And no one in their right mind fucks with Dobermans and they don’t have that hip issue that the Sheppard’s have
