All good advice!
It's the 9 month plus old gas that's my biggest worry...

Nine months.  Not too bad.
Assuming it was kept warm and the cylinders were fogged and the plugs are clean.
If the electrics are healthy, if there's a stabilizer or octane boost in the fuel.
Not too many if's.
My wager would be that it won't start on the first turn of the key and I wouldn't even want it to.
I'd pull spark and let it crank, wait, crank, wait, crank, wait.  Then it should have some oil here and there.
On a Porsche, you'd even seen pressure on the gauge.
Then I'd give it spark and avoid letting it grab too many revs when it bites.
Have something under it to make it easy to see leaks.  Check carefully for fuel leaks.
Have a fire extinguisher at the ready and be sure it's going to operate.
Gentle 2nd gear and 3rd gear miles to get the gearbox to think about shifting and let the diff and wheel bearings reacquaint themselves.
Old oil and grease and get hot enough to ignite, so if it's not pristine around the heads, I'd be checking for any drips that might have accumulated or pooled.
At least, that's the general routine for things I don't use frequently.  Boats, bikes, snowmobiles, etc.
They all find ways to consume a whole day to answer that first turn of the key.
