Ferrari Mailing List: 155 MPH Speed Limit

I've noticed that some high performance street cars have a note in their adverts saying the car is governed to a max speed of 155MPH.   Why was 155 mph chosen?   There's a lot of consistency among car makers - did they get together and decide that 155mph was too much?     Man!  I'd like to be on THAT committee!  ;-)
