IT is actually a V-12.  I like them but have no more room since I bought all the GT4 1/18 models!

Um....NO....there were many 5-speed manuals built.  My mechanic spent the summer resurrecting one such car while finishing my 308 up.  They're a royal handful to get 'right' if they've been neglected.  The single-distributor and points setup alone is an 'art', as is the electrical diagnostics for the fuel and ignition systems.  A patient person with an electrical/engineering background can handle it, however.  There just aren't that many people looking for the challenge that these models can bring, considering that a person can spend the same amount of money to get a reasonably-sorted 328 in their garage.

I'd look at these cars as being $40K cars all-day-long.  Might be bought for $25K, but will need another $15K in work to get things running correctly.  However, the back seats and the trunk are quite spacious and the lines are really nice.  Some of the service-areas of the 400's flat 12-cylinder engine are VERY difficult to access, the layout in the engine bay is not what one would consider logical or well thought-out.  My mechanic friend told me he spent about as much time cursing at the car as he did working on it, and he can assemble a Boxer's engine in his sleep....

Dennis - ALL 4001's are GM automatics.  They are all the same except for the
differences. <g>

This was on Bring a Trailer this morning.  There can't be THAT MANY 5-speed
400i Ferraris out there, no?
