Whellll now - first congratulations (in a John Wayne voice over). Done deal and all seems well. Great. That said tho - I HATE THOSE KINDA FIXES. Man - I wanted to hear you found a snapped rudeapost gear connector, a bent kanibbling pin interfering with the phramas or something - but shoot, just going thru the same ol same ol you did before and THAT fixed it? Rats. I still have a stinko problem with our '78 GTS, tho haven't putzed around with it for month. The problem is a car that stalls at idle on a hill (like a steep driveway) and happily re-starts when rolled back to the level. I HATE that stuff too. All started AFTER replacing all the fuel hoses 'cause I smelled gas and even tho we blame cLYdE for an abundance of gas smells and hot air - he do make sense that an engine fire is bad for morale. Onward - and again - thanks for letting us know outcome. DOUG PS - Rick do you remove the rear deck lid or do you just fight within the limited space? -----Original Message----- From: Rick Lindsay [mailto:rolindsay [at] yahoo.com] Sent: Thursday, March 14, 2013 2:27 PM To: DOUG Cc: The FerrariList Subject: [Ferrari] '79 308GTB idle problem resolved! Hello Friends, I write today to thank everyone here, and over on FerrariChat, for their suggestions regarding my '79 Standard Specification (Euro) 308GTB's idle problems. I have to admit, I did not search for the problem scientifically. Rather, I followed everyone's advice, at the same time. 1. Rebuilt carbs WITHOUT removing the throttle shafts or plates. (Previous work.) 2. Installed new heat insulators with integral gaskets, below the carbs. 3. Replaced the fuel hoses. (Previous work.) 4. Cleaned and lightly oiled the linkage. 5. Assembled the ball joints on the linkage with 'considerable play'. 6. Ran the engine until at operating temperature, before tuning. 7. Followed The Birdman's carb synch guide to the letter. 8. Verified that nothing was binding as the air cleaner went back on. 9. Tested, and retested the idle as each part went together. 10. Went for a long test drive. 11. Perfect performance!!! Thank you, everyone. -rick _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/dnt%40dock.net Sponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlines http://www.F1Headlines.com/
