Mixed feeling about NBC and NBCSN guys. I'm thinking of finding another Ferrari. I have an 85 308 gtb that is all up to date and wonderful with 50k. I love it. My close friend that hauls my 308 to races with him races a 250 GTB SB. Monterey Historics etc etc. For me to add another: Considering a Dino emotional and maybe practical invst? Anything from the 60's, but they're all pretty $$$ for me (a stretch). A Maranello. I'm more into the classics than the buzzy new super cars. I know it's pretty broad thinking. Any thoughts for a driver and investment? Also for historic racing of the car, I'm interested having race 12 years in SCCA around the country SRF. Thanks any advice to keep me smart. Not only did they run the POST race show BEFORE the race, SPOILING it, they also edited the coverage to fit into a shorter time slot. If their goal was to gain a potentially new F1 audience (Why else move it to NBC?), they certainly blew it AND alienated the current F1 audience - at lease this fan! Ass holes. -rick From: Stephen Sherman <stephensherman44 [at] gmail.com> Subject: Re: [Ferrari] F1 Monaco Date: May 26, 2013 11:09:56 AM CDT To: Rick Lindsay <rolindsay [at] yahoo.com> Cc: The FerrariList <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> If you watched the local NBC at 6:30AM they could not have shown the post race because it had not been run. the NBC SPORTS ran the race following the post race show, I can see how you would agravated if you did not watch the race live.
Speed and Fox when they show F1 on the local FOX it was delayed which ticked me off because I watch F1 live, at least NBC and NBC SPORTS are showing the race live. Relax Rick

I'm just really grateful NBC airs the race live even when they show it on the mother channel. Honestly, so far, I've been extremely pleased with NBC/NBCSports coverage of F1. Rick

Few thoughts which may help. Programming - times/channels. TIVOing requires adding 3 hours to the race to account for many delays, otherwise you miss the last 10 laps of the race as I did on NBC. Fortunately I also recorded the later NBCsports rebroadcast race Ch220 with 3hr add--on for delays. It turns out the same precaution should have been applied to the movie 'Senna' as a hockey game delayed the move on NBCsport 220 at 5pm-pdt as the movie's end, the last 7 minutes was also chopped off. If you are new to TVR, adding 30 minutes to 3 hours is cheap insurance to delays as this happens several times a year. Both TIVO and DirectTV DTVR have the 'add 1 1/2 hr feature to use on series and singular programs. And it was needed for the Senna movie as it's normal start was delayed by a hockey game. IF YOU MISSED IT: Monaco F1 will be shown again on NBCSpeed 220 today Monday May 27 8:30p-11:00p pdst. While the event may be edited, ALLOW 4 hours for a complete show. Senna movie is listed on DirectTV as CH1100 anytime for $3.99 'SENNA' - required viewing for F1 fans and only F1 fans will understand and enjoy it. Masterfully edited with Portugese archive footage. A must see, emotional insight of the man and the times. Interesting to get glimpse into the drivers meetings, safety discussions, politics. I assume this was Brazil TV archive coverage and I'm happy for the effort. Took me a while to wake up to the McClaren's of red 'racing uniforms with Marlboro 2ft high near identical to my numerous Ferrari Jackets. While I was died-in-th-wool Speedvision fan, NBCsports is now jake in my book. Even put the boys into suits and got them a room in Spain for a daily commhute to Monaco. If you find a desire to visit the Casino forget it. Super quiet staid, ties required, and expensive...no resemblance to an Indian Casino with buffet, bingo and happy outcrys by slot winners. Great racing day _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/listinfo/ferrari |
