1981 308 GTSi: My mechanic tells me my valve for
by-pass (#115741) is broken and Ferari does not provide them anymore. That is
the reason I get backfires regularly when I get stuck in traffic in 2nd and
3rd gear at anything around 3,000 rpm. In 4th gear and 5th, there is no problem.
But as soon as the engine is very hot (190+) and I stay at around 3,000 rpm, I
get small backfires all the times. My mechanic tells me not to worry about
it.
If I keep the revs going up in a steady matter,
it's no problem at all. Beautiful sound, but as soon as I'm stuck in low rpm
(again around 3,000), then the backfires start.
In the past 2 years, I changed the injectors, plug
wires, connectors, extenders and last spring gasket job without taking the
engine out.
Any thoughts?
