NFC -- Paint Protection

All,

Although I vowed I'd never buy a "brand new" car again because I'm not into off-the-lot depreciation, I broke the vow and bought my wife a new Tesla Model S performance (red, black with red piping, carbon fiber, etc etc).

I do not intend to treat this like a show car -- it will be our driver. It will sit outside all its life. That said, I would like to do what would be best to protect the paint up front.

New cars these days aren't painted like they used to be, at least high end ones. If you look at a real show car under the lights and see the depth of the paint, it is wonderful. The Tesla is pretty darn good, but even it has a small amount of orange peel. An acceptable amount for a driver I guess, but here's my idea.

I think it would be a good idea to get it professionally detailed and the paint leveled once. Then I want to protect it. I've seen lots of good things about Opti Coat Pro, so I can contact a detailer to do something like that. There's also "wrapping" at least portions of the car.

I'd like to hear some advice on just a one time prep of a brand new car so it will look good for an extended period of time without my having to focus on keeping the new daily driver clean.

I'm in the Northern Virginia/DC area and would be very interested in advice on good professional detailers.
