Plenty of people care, it is a disease of the upper middle class as they haven't yet realized that no one gives a $hit what you have/who you are/what you know. How many times do we get off track talking about watches (leave the cats out of this one)?
But then again, when consumerism drives 72% of the US economy, you end up trying to sell a story to justify the price.
