Meh - the 'protected class' don't like other people telling them how to spend their money, even-if the Auction houses are raping them with a linear fee structure.

RM Auctions, like Mecum and Barrett-Jackson, are just like ebay with a three-ring circus tent and carnival atmosphere only the suckers (buyers) are the ones paying the fees, versus the sellers on ebay. The bidding frenzy set-up looks just-like the realtors bidding-up housing prices during the Real Estate boom - What Me Worry! We're all making Big-Bank on commission-sales! We set the market! FORZA and Cavallino magazine say so! I don't know what the allure of buying cars through auctions are, other than they have cornered the market on the 'rare' car offerings. People don't use/rely on FML anymore - too many shark-like brokers, cold-calling sellers looking to scam, forcing many to head to the auction instead. Where's an honest buyer looking for a good deal to go?

Plenty of people care, it is a disease of the upper middle class as they haven't yet realized that no one gives a $hit what you have/who you are/what you know. How many times do we get off track talking about watches (leave the cats out of this one)?

But then again, when consumerism drives 72% of the US economy, you end up trying to sell a story to justify the price.

I owe you the first beer when you get back, heading to PVG mid September if you want to meet up on that side of the bigger pond...

Ferrari built the cars to be driven not to be show cased
so call me a what you will but they are the ones who drive the prices up so us the real drivers can t buy the cars and drive them
its self cleansing I say
Jay Leno and the like are what drives the prices to ridiculous levels
and some asshole thinks he can buy and sell it for even more
bonus I say when thy get taken

Rumors were that RM was going to donate some of their fees to charity.

They did this as a publicity move and I think they were successful.
