Thanks to all who replied!   I really appreciate everyone's opinion.   It helps to have other perspectives.   As I said, none of the things are very expensive -- lots of sentimental value but little otherwise.   My mom's engagement/wedding rings are nice but knowing my dad's situation in the late 30s (like everyone else's) would have not allowed him to spend much.  Might be some value there in antique value I guess..

Personally I hate to get rid of my mom's and my MILs wedding rings but without a daughter/daughter in law to give them to they'll sit in  a drawer until we're  gone then the kids will fight over them....   not pretty but maybe reality - I've seen it way too often.

Anyway --  again - I appreciate the ideas!  I may try to locate a local jewelry store who does consignment sales.....

Who is that Lister from Texas who sold/appraised/etc diamonds?

Forgot the name....we're talking late '90s/early '00s throwback here.

Take it to a locally owned jewelry store.  They may buy it outright, or they may offer to sell it on consignment for you.  Depends on your needs (need cash now, or can wait and take it as it comes).  That's what I'd do.  FWIW.  :-)
