That's a pretty good mileage getting 16,000 out of a set.  It sounds however that you do mainly highway miles, hence the wear on the inside at the rear.  The 308 runs quite a lot of toe on the back, and that coupled with a bit of camber wears the inner part of the tyre more if you spend a lot of time in a straight line.  To even up the wear, as the TRX is non directional, at about 5,000 miles just flip the rears on the rims (So the inner part is now the outer) or rotate them front to rear.  Unfortunately it's too late to do this with the current tyres, but bear it in mind for your next set.

I think the best course of action is to have the alignment checked front AND rear to make sure it's within specification and correct if necessary.  Also, what pressures are you running?  Make sure they are kept to the manufacturers recommendation.  The next thing is to replace your tyres anyway.  At 10 years old they are way past their prime and should be discarded as they compound has aged beyond what is safe now.

The superformance option going for 16" wheels is a great way to go, stick with the stock sizes 205/55-16 and 225/50-16 and I've found any of the N specification Porsche 911 approved tyres work best on a 308 (With a treadwear index under 200).  So, Continental Sport Contact, Bridgestone S-02A and the Pirelli P-Zero.  Good luck.

1981 308 GTSi, Michelin trx 220 55 vr 390. They (4) are 10 years old and I do around 1600 miles every summer. I paid $1200. can. back in 2003 tax and installation included.

They have 5 lines of treads. The inside line of treads is totally worn at the rear (both sides of course). The rest is far from new, but could easily last a few more summers. The front ones show wear, but at least are equally worn.

I'll do a tire rotation this winter of course. But what else could I do to prevent the 2 front ones that I'll put in the rear to become like the present rear ones ?

Coker tire ($429)
Shopbot.ca ($563)

I don't want to pay that kind of money.

Thank you!
